8 Апреля 2026,
On April 2, 2026, the 1st Conservatoire conference “Pedagogical Practice and Methodic of Academic Singing Teachings” was held by the Vocal Department. The 3rd year students of undergraduate program and the 1st year students of master-degree program took part in it. They shared their first experience in teaching vocal to young singers.
A wide range of questions was discussed, from the development of singing breathing, position of separate muscles in singing and articulation to artistic tasks relevant at the early stage of studies. Idea of the conference belongs to the Assistant Professor of Vocal Department Marina S. Makarova, who pointed to the importance of preparing academic singing teachers and educating students in both theory and practice.
In her opening remark, the moderator of the conference, teacher of Vocal Department Natalia Grigoreva said: “Vocal teacher is not only a person, who can sing. First of all, it’s a person of a certain mindset, who understands peculiarities of the human voice as a musical instrument and can explain it to students, assess students’ work and correct it. And the most important thing is not to harm the voice of the student, who trusts you”.
The conference was held in friendly atmosphere; experienced teachers shared their ideas and methods with students as their future colleagues. The Dean of the Vocal Department Elena E. Markelova thanked the organizers and said: “This conference is the first of this kind and I’m glad we organized it. I’m sure, we should hold it annually. Our main idea was not only to discuss methods of vocal teaching, but to find ways to use them in practice. That’s why, we would like every report to be dedicated to practical work with your pupils. Some of you have already succeeded today, others have not, but we are sure that we still have everything ahead of us!!”
