Fourth Chengdu Youth Accordion Art Week

The 4th Chengdu Youth Accordion Art Week took place on May 1-3, 2026, in Chengdu (China). Concerts of musicians from different provinces of China, Vietnam and Russia, International children’s competition and scientific conference were included into the program. Vice-rector for Academic Affairs and International Relations of Saratov Conservatoire, Professor of Folk Instruments Department Viacheslav Bondarenko and the Dean of the Folk Instruments Faculty of Gnesin Academy, Assistant Professor Alexander Selivanov were among the members of the Russian delegation.
Traditionally, the winners of the most prestigious competition of accordion performers «The World Cup» take part in Chengdu festival. The winners of 2025 Rostislav Goryansky (student of Saratov Conservatoire, class of Prof. V. Bondarenko, the winner of the Junior category) and Konstantin Ryabin (student of Gnesin Academy, class of Prof. V. Semenov, the winner of the Senior category) played two-parts concert in the Chamber Hall of the new and the largest Cultural Center of Chengdu. Chinese audience met the concert very warmly.  
Viacheslav Bondarenko and Alexander Selivanov took part in the concert of modern music, where compositions of Tan Jia Liang were performed. The composer took part in the concert too and played his music in ensemble with international colleagues who presented to the audience premier of his works.
The International children’s competition was the part of the festival. Viacheslav Bondarenko and Alexander Selivanov took part in the Jury work. The competition was held in unusual format, because Jury members should give a feed back to participants after their performances. They helped students to analyze their advantages and problems, to identify growth points and gave recommendations for further development.
Besides creative meetings and concerts, program of the Art Week included scientific conference, participated by performers from different Chinese provinces. Participants shared the experience of accordion performance development in different regions. Russian guests also gave their speech. Viacheslav Bondarenko told about Saratov Conservatoire and demonstrated a short movie about it in Chinese. The performance aroused a genuine interest of the audience. The Director of Chengdu Xingmeng Art School also visited the conference and invited the Russian delegation to see her school.
